At a well-attended and impressive ceremony held at the Temne Central Mosque, Old Field Street in Freetown for the commissioning of the newly constructed water-well and taps for the mosque and the entire community attracted very important dignitaries.
The Chairman of the Temne Central Mosque, Alhaji Abdul Karim Kargbo and senior members of the Mosque have joined hands together to construct the water-well and taps for the mosque and the entire community where eight (8) people will be getting water at the same time.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman Alhaji Abdul Karim Kargbo said among other things, he extended appreciation on behalf of the Mosque and the community to their Muslim brothers in the United States of America (USA) and United Kingdom (UK) for their timely and memorable support towards constructing the water-well.
The Chairman also informed the gathering about the present poor condition of the primary school under the Mosque, adding that at a time like this, the school is supposed to have a Nursery as well as a secondary school called an Islamic Secondary.
Alhaji Abdul Karim Kargbo also talked about the importance of establishing a Radio station to compliment the effort of the Executive of the Mosque in promoting the school activities and the same time propagating the ideals of Islam.
In his contribution, the Temne Tribal Chief Alhaji Hassan Bangura lauded the effort of the Chairman of the Mosque Alhaji Abdul Karim Kargbo, for what he described as a work well done, noting that the provision of the well will alleviate the sufferings of the people using the Mosque and the community at large. He prayed for all those who in diverse ways provided support toward the project, noting that “water is life,” and that who so ever provides it will have Allah’s blessing.
Chief Hassan Bangura expressed delight over unity among Sierra Leoneans which he insisted caught across boundaries, stressing that people in other countries do not encourage inter-marriages like we do here in Sierra Leone. He added in conclusion: “Go and tell everybody that we’re very much united. So we must all stay together as a united family.”
Present at the ceremony was one time APC strong man Alhaji Chrenor Maju, Commissioner Macsuth Gibrila Sesay, Alhaji Kanji Daramy and host of other important people.
