To be honest, the oldest wise bird is not a happy man at this moment because few individuals because of greed have made our Republic to become a laughing stock not only in the sub-region but the world in general. But trust me I will never forgive them for that.
Put yourself in my position. Will you ever be comfortable with shameful and disgraceful thing like CORRUPTION emanating from such a honourable House of Parliament which everybody knows is not only one of the three Arms of government but very important given the role it plays as law making body?
So it must be respected just like the other two organs, the executive and the judiciary.
But from the latest unfolding ugly scenario, Bra Parrot cannot hesitate to say that Parliament has lost its respect these days to say the least.
What is happening in Parliament clearly shows that, President Bio did not come to fight corruption as he promised before his election as President in 2018.
If, and only if President Julius Maada Bio would have been or still serious about fulfilling that promise he wouldn’t have hesitated to sack the Clerk of Parliament Hon. Paran Tarawally with immediate effect for bringing the name of the honourable House of Parliament into disrepute.
Bra Parrot believes that the offense Hon. Paran Tarawally has committed is grave, to say the least, and must sincerely not go unpunished.
So the concerned bird is suggesting that the president must first of all forget about him, Paran being a full member of the SLPP and deal with the matter fairly because the integrity of any of the three Arms of government must be respected at any given time.
As things stand now, with Paran still in office and being investigated for corruption, the wise bird can say without fear or favour that this government under President Bio is making the people to feel that any party member can do same and go scot-free.
From what the wise bird has gathered from the House of Parliament, the Speaker and the Clerk of Parliament were not even in good speaking terms before this incident took place, of the latter firing over one hundred workers while hiring his own wife for a senior position.
The other unfortunate thing Bra Parrot has learnt of late again is that the two senior members in that House the Speaker and the Clerk of Parliament have divided the House into two different factions (TEAM) each heading his own which has ultimately led to the infighting between the two big men.
Say what you may, the integrity of Parliament is now put into question by both the national and international community which is why President should have sacked Hon. Paran Tarawally to save the good image of the Honourable House of Parliament and the country.
And my candid advice to President Bio is, if he fails to show Hon. Paran the exit door because of party affiliation he will by no means be setting a very bad precedent.
