As the National Stadium renovation is still on a slow pace, the Director of Competitions of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Sorie Ibrahim Sesay and team have inspected facilities at the National Stadium to confirm whether it meets FIFA-CAF necessities.
The Inspections was basically focus on the dressing rooms, pitch, media center, Anti-doping Centre, goal posts, scoreboard, tunnel, gym, main entrance to the stadium, plastic seats for the stands, etc.
Chinese Construction team Boss, Jessie said, “they are trying their best for all facilities mentioned to meet FIFA-CAF requirements. He said they have eight dressing rooms; four for international competitions and four for local competitions. We also have two stands for disabled fans he added. The pitch will have natural grass, four goal posts made of fiber not iron, modern electronic scoreboard, etc. Our only problem now is the fixing of plastic seats for the open stands. But we are working around the clock to put everything in place.”
The newly appointed Chairman of the Parliamentary Oversight Committee on Sports, Hon. Gavao appealed to Jessie to go all out to fix the plastic seats, saying rehabilitating the Stadium without plastic seats will not meet FIFA-CAF standards.
The 40m dollar project is enough to meet all facilities in the Stadium, as FIFA-CAF requirements.
