Sierra Leone Football Association officials led by president, Thomas Daddy, has joined senior members of West Africa Association of Football Union (WAFU) and Confederation of Africa Football (CAF).
The meeting of WAFU Zone-A members includes President Motsepe and WAFU-A zonal executive members in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
The two other members of Sierra Leone are the Acting General Secretary, Mohamed Benson Bawoh and Executive Committee Member, Brima Jalloh.
The seminar’s aim was to deliberate on issues pertinent to the development of football within Zone-A with specific focus on the CAF playing venues requirement for competitions in all categories.
Daddy Brima requested CAF to “review their strategy on stadium inspection”, noting that “some of the stadiums used in other continents in Africa for FIFA World Cup qualifiers are not better than the stadiums that have been banned in Africa especially Sierra Leone”.
He added that, consideration has to be given to MAs with playable stadium facilities away from the capital with specific reference to Sierra Leone.
The said meeting is one of the zonal consultations held ahead of CAF’s 45th Ordinary General Assembly scheduled for the 14th July, 2023 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
LFA contractors are to inspect fields in Sierra Leone and are preparing to construct four new pitches.
The Sierra Leone Football Association preferred pitch construction company, Edel Grass has on Monday, July 10 successfully concluded the final field’s checkup exercise ahead of the commencement of the numerous pitch construction projects in Freetown, Port Loko, Kono, Bo, and Kenema.
