Even though Leone Stars were massively humiliated by their opponent, a week ago, but the tentative head Coach, Amidu Karim, says, Sierra Leone men’s national team were better off than their opponent, Pharaoh’s of Egypt. He made the statement after the West Africans, Leone stars 2-0 loss to the Pharaoh’s in the World Cup qualifiers on Sunday 19th November, 2023 in Liberia.
Though Mahmoud Trezeguet attained the early goal in the 18th minute and went for a strut 62nd in a match Sierra Leone finished with just nine (9) players; Tyrese Fornah and Abdul Kabia were sent off due to the decision of the central referee by then.
“It was a good game though. We played very well in the first 20 minutes. I am dismayed at the match officials. In my own opinion, I think playing against one of the strongest teams in Africa with two men down is challenging and tough yet the boys did very well,” Karim said.
However, he accomplished that the performance of Leone Stars was much better than Pharaohs of Egypt in the first half until the match official sent Tyrese Fornah off the pitch. But, the future, he went on, is bright for this team, and he promised to go back to the drawing board at least to correct their errors.
“We created many chances, but we could not convert any; equally, there are many positive things that happened during the match.”
At home, some football lovers deeply commended Amidu Karim for his attacking style of play, censuring poor officiating for the country’s loss.
