Twenty-six-years-old, Mustapha Kamara, a masoner made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura.
According to his files C/S 1327/2024, at Pademba Road court No.2 in Freetown, he is held for two count charges to wit Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
And he was held for malicious damage which is contrary to section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act 1861.
According to the particulars of offence on Wednesday 17th April 2024 at #1 Valley View IMATT the mountain rural district the western area in Freetown did steal four rolls 2.5 twin cables, four rolls 4 millimeter cables all to the total value of twenty thousand six hundred Leones(20,600). The stolen items are properties of Alieu Bangura and on count two it was further stated that on the same date and place the accused person maliciously damaged four rolls 2.5 twin cables and four rolls 4 milimeter cables.
The said items cost a total of twenty thousand six hundred Leones(20,600) which are properties of one Alie Bangura.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, he pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor Sergeant 8811 Florence M Wilson told the bench he found no available records against the accused person whilst the accused person was not represented also by legal counsel. He pleaded with the magistrate to temper justice with mercy on behalf of the accused. Due to the plea mitigation by the accused person, Magistrate Bangura sentenced the accused person being a first time offender. And also because he didn’t waste the court time and so he sentenced the accused to two years six months imprisonment to the male correctional facility in Freetown.
On another exhibit, the same accused, on exhibit marked, C/S 1329/2024, the accused person was charged on two count charges to wit Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916 and Malicious Damage contrary to section 51 of the malicious damage Act of 1861.
According to the particulars of offence on Saturday 18th May 2024 at #1 IMATT Hill station in the mountain rural district, Western Area in Freetown, the acuused did steal three rolls 2.5 twin cables each valued three thousand Leones all to the total value of nine thousand Leones(9,000) which are properties of Alieu Bangura.
Count two further stated that on the same date and place the accused person maliciously damaged three rolls 2.5 twin cables each valued three thousand Leones(3,000) all to the total valued of nine thousand Leones(9,000) as properties of Alieu Bangura.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused person, he pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor Sergeant 8811 Florence M Wilson told the bench that the accused has a previous criminal record but the accused pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy on him.
Magistrate Bangura in his ruling said the accused person had been before him with name separate files for which he is a convict. He held the view that the accused had the proclivity to commit further offence and he therefore sentenced him to four years imprisonment to the male correctional facility in Freetown.
