This year’s National election of Sierra Leone is sensitive due to the toxic atmosphere.
A reverse on the gains of Sierra Leone is not good. It is going to affect the nation if our community leaders fail to disseminate information with facts on sustainable peace and development in order to calm down tempers.
They need to focus their attention on ordinary people telling them the importance of development in a nation.
It is interesting to note that Sierra Leone among other countries in Africa is poised to do well in the agriculture.
The youth especially women and persons with disabilities will stand to benefit a lot when agriculture booms.
There have been meetings focusing on development on the agriculture sector undertaken by some private institutions and key among them is the Everybody Must Farm (EMF) organization. EMF is currently spearheading agricultural projects targeting farmers in Sierra Leone.
It is making a great impact on promoting a global campaign on the need for people to grow, store, process and package local foods and to making agriculture a profitable business.
In an exclusive interview with Kadijatu Jah Njawa of Everybody Must Farm (EMF), she said there is a present political tension in Sierra Leone which has brought about some challenges.
She calls on the women to focus on development, and run to the farms rather than to the streets.
The young and dynamic woman further said that politicians are in the habit of persuading women during campaign periods who eventually engage in chaos.
She added that the EMF is championing awareness campaign thereby sensitizing women to deviate themselves from all party violence.
Mrs. Njawa advised women to focus on creating for themselves self-reliant and decent jobs within the agriculture sector.
She urges women to be conscious about and work to grab the enormous opportunities seen in the sector.
And women, she added, should strive on building a sustainable peace and development in the country.
Mrs. Njawa also calls on the international body in Sierra Leone to protect the women and children during this all-important general elections.
