The Chairman of the Western Area Rural District has deceived his people of numerous facilities. Kasho J. Holland Cole is a famous politician in Sierra Leone under the All People’s Congress party. But the senior APC politician has failed to meet out his key priorities campaigned in 2018 general elections.
Mr. Kasho Cole is on records to have hugely promised indigenes and residents of Waterloo with many basic social services. “Kasho Cole told us he would build us markets in our respective communities but he couldn’t fulfill that. He is on air recently to boast of his accomplishments as a Western rural Chairman” remarked Mabinty Bangura, a business woman in York Road, Waterloo.
Under the laws of Sierra Leone, councilors, mayors and chairmen are under the Ministry of Local Government and are expected to provide community services for their people who voted for them to represent them. Despite being an opposition Chairman, Mr. Kasho Cole gets support from government’s annual budget as a Chairman to run the council’s affairs.
The fact that the Western Area Rural District Council regularly collects dues from business people; this means that they generate more revenue for the government. Councils in Sierra Leone are responsible to implement development projects alongside the Local Government Ministry.
However, Waterloo and other communities in the Western Rural District are seriously deprived of so many basic social amenities ranging from electricity, clean pipe-borne water to good roads. The politician, Kasho J. Holland Cole is heavily being criticized by his subjects for telling them all sort of lies.
The Western Rural Chairman has managed to build himself a swimming pool at John Obey but has not finished constructing a market at Waterloo- Tombo junction.
Residents of Waterloo were evacuated from the market square with their houses shattered in ruins last year. While he continues to play tricks in politics, he is paying a lip-service on the abandoned construction of the Waterloo- Tombo market which has been for months without any ongoing works.
Residents of Waterloo has called on the Anti-Corruption Commission to investigate the Western Rural Chairman for undertaking an unfinished projects while he is busy campaigning in the ongoing APC’s lower level elections. “We want to know where our state money is going because Kasho can’t be spending money on masquerades when we don’t know how much he is paid monthly,” complained a youth in Waterloo.
