The co-chair of in Tripartite Committee, Dr. Kelfala Marah, has said in Freetown that four elected councilors of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party in Bo district have been prevented from performing their functions even though they won the June 24th elections.
“As I am talking to you, we have four APC councilors that are yet to take their oath. The APC is concerned that they have not performed the function they have been elected for,” Dr. Marah said at the signing up of the Terms of Reference of the Tripartite Committee at the new Brookfields Hotel in Freetown.
He accused the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) of submitting the wrong list, probably list of councilors.
He said the National Secretary General of the APC Party, Lansana Dumbuya Esq submitted their list to ECSL before the June 24th Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Council elections while the ECSL submitted different list. He called on ECSL to rectify the issue so that the four councilors will take their oath and start work.
Responding to the issue, the co-chair on the government side, Dr. Emmanuel Giama, said the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs and the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone will try to address the issue.
