The Deputy Speaker of the Sierra Leone Parliament, Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas and Deputy Leader of Government Business, Hon. Bashiru Silikie, are attending the 3rd ‘Investopia’ Conference organized by the Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates.
Investopia is an investment platform that gathers governments’ officials, investors, private sectors and business leaders to discuss opportunities, economic developments and growths. This edition is held under the theme: ‘Emerging Economic Frontiers: Investing in the “New Economy” Growth Sectors’.
Also at the event is a renowned English actor, filmmaker and singer, Idris Elba, who spoke of his Sierra Leonean heritage and his plans to invest in the West-African small state.
He described Bonthe-Island in Bonthe district as a beautiful Island that could be the perfect incubator for ideas, research, economies and the intersection of creativity. Bonthe Island city is a project in mind to be fashioned out by the actor. Elba dreams to turn the British colonial historical island into a modern touristic city.
Accompanying the delegation to the arab nation was Sierra Leone’s ambassador to the UAE, Rashid Sesay.
