The management of Diamond Stars Football Club have expressed strong dismays over the unethical resignation of the team’s former coach, Tito Cole.
Tito had been under contract with the club for three seasons and his contract was set to expire in 2025. But he submitted his resignation letter last week, accusing the mangers of the club of breaching his contract.
In their statement, the management of Diamond Stars FC expressed huge disappointment in Cole’s manner of resignation, thus labeling his action as disrespectful which was indicative of a lack of regard for the club’s protocols.
The club dismissed Cole’s allegations on not honouring their part of the contract as baseless but such claims only aimed at tarnishing the club’s reputation. It said in a statement, “Since his appointment as a coach of the club, Tito has never gone without his salary being paid to him and his directives being met to support him to deliver on results. The club wants to categorically state that Coach Tito Cole still has a contract with us which has not been run out. We consider his act as an insubordination and lack of professionalism,” the management stated.
Meanwhile, the management had further acknowledged the concerns of their fans assuring them that the team is still in safe hands.
The club assured all fans of a better performance ahead in the second phase of the Leone Rock Premier League.
As the team prepares for the second-leg of the Premier League, the management announces that Issa Conteh, who is the assistant coach- 1, is the new head coach of the team until a new coach is pronounced.
Coach Tito Cole had earlier outlined reasons for his resignation.
“I was facing challenges regarding accommodation for my stay, irregular payment of monthly salary, backlog bonuses, lack of team support to the players and insufficient training equipment’s, no team morale. I have experienced all these problems in the club as there are no better conditions of service and no encouragement by some members of the management. Thus, I’ve decided to take this decision,” he said.
