The people of Sierra Leone at a time like this will now bow their heads in shame because of their wrong expectations that have been dashed to the ground by the present regime.
Before the 2018 general elections, the Sierra Leonean populaces were all over the length and breadth of the country preaching hate messages about the system that was in power then, the (APC).
Little did they know that things will turn negative way as it is now in the country?
The people were very much optimistic that the present Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) will change things for the better.
But what has made the situation worse is that the government has never been able to put a halt to corruption, lawlessness and the like, and in the same angle, they cannot control the prices of essential foodstuff to the advantage of the people.
Day-in-day-out in Sierra Leone today, the prices of essential commodities keep growing fresh like ‘bologie’ in the garden; it is as if the country is without leadership structure.
As for the question on why the hardship in the country that has gone on for so long, the President has, however; failed to make a public statement in order to allay the fears of the people.
As for the Minister of Trade, he is a ‘mumu’ and it seems as if the country is without a Minister of Trade.
Please, please, I don’t want people to miss quote me; I am not making a case for the APC, only that we at Africa 24 we call things how we see them.
It is no secret that during the days of the APC regime, there was hardly continuous power cut as we see it today in the country and essential foodstuff were not as expensive as they are now.
With the SLPP in power, it is as if some corrupt officers have all the while been flexing their muscles to be more corrupt than before, doing corruption as if they have known these are their end days.
This is without prejudice that, the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has set a lot of precedents in the country – some are good, and the others are very bad precedents that will go a long way that will stay in the minds of the people.
If only the people of Sierra Leone are very honest to themselves, at a time like this, they should be mourning to have another change of government – democratically for the better.
It goes without a saying that, the laws in the country during the days of the APC era only had cracks but now they have broken down under the SLPP regime.
Take the case of the former Clerk of Parliament Hon. Paran Tarawellie, his case of corruption had died a natural death. And, in Sierra Leone today, as long as one is connected with the system one’s case goes nowhere.
This is more the reason we as a people should always respect the devil we know than the angel we don’t know.
