A young and active Civil Society activist, who is the Executive Director of the Voice of the Voiceless, Musa Jalloh aka J Mus has called for bipartisan effort to address the economic challenges in Sierra Leoneans.
According to Musa Jalloh, the President and his government’s “Five Big Game Changers” are policies that aim to foster development in the country.
He maintained that President Julius Maada Bio is a man with high pedigree who is relentlessly working towards improving the quality of people’s living standards.
“We should all work towards better condition of citizens and bipartisan approach is the way to go if we can achieve out aims and objectives as a nation,” he said.
He emphasized that no nation can change their status as a country unless they work towards diversifying the politics and economy of the country.
He revealed the mantra that “winner takes all in politics” and is also a cause for concern and as a nation.
But he advised that the country is bigger than all of them and all individuals must be part of the work to overcome the country’s challenges.
He, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the dwindling of the country’s economy and democracy.
“I am truly disappointed in the way things have turned out. I had such high hopes and expectations when President Julius Maada Bio took over power in 2018, but it seems like everything has gone wrong.”
He said despite all the efforts and hard work that was exhibited in 2018 by President Bio and his regime, it still seems like nothing has worked out at the end of the day.
The CSO maintained that President Julius Maada Bio’s five years in office was a bit better, but later turned out in poor situation in the last six months of his second term.
“I felt letdown and frustrated by the lack of transparency, accountability, dispensation of justice, economic problems, sufferings to name but a few and the setbacks that have occurred along the way,” Jalloh stated.
He said the ongoing sufferings and political deterioration in the country is a mere disappointment which needed concerted efforts.
The CSO revealed that the persistent blackout and the high cost of living required concerted efforts to address such problems.
J MUS maintained that the duty of government all over the world is to help alleviate the sufferings of it citizens and Sierra Leone is not an exception.
The CSO also lamented on the current deaths of young people through Kush, adding that the days are gone when the government is lethargic on the issue.
“I am very much concern on the prevalence of Kush in the country. I urged the government to do all it can to address the situation,” he said.
He emphasized that politics should not be a barrier to neglect citizens’ benefits.
He pleaded with the Head of State to work towards the better condition of citizens.
