The Native Consortium Executive Director, Edmond Abu Jr, condemns the egregious assaults on the dignity and human rights of Sierra Leoneans.
He said such is a clear breach of contract on the part of the CRSG to brazenly block all the alternative tollgate routes since 2019 to date.
He added that the Chinese road construction company, CRSG’s action, resulted to drivers and passengers going on the wrong way.
Edmond Abu asked lawmakers to check if CRSG has the right to take decisions in most instances, he cited the latest decision of CRSG’s plans to increase the tollgate costs on passing vehicles as so wicked by the company.
Native Consortium’s boss promises a continuation of its investigation on highlighting the missteps of CRSG.
He said it is a wicked act by deliberately blocking all the alternative routes, allowing only kekes (motor tri-cycles) and okadas (motor clycles) to ply this area.
He said this is seen especially at Masiaka tollgate where bikes, trucks and cars are risking their way through.
He further said that the cars cannot ply the alternative routes let alone heavy-duty vehicles, a conduction he described as a way of forcing all kinds of vehicles to pass through the several tollgates such as Masiaka, Songo and Jui.
Mr Abu encouraged, Infrastructure and Road Works minister, Dr. Denis Sandy, to take action on the abuse of the Chinese company to Sierra Leoneans.
He said the tollgate at Masiaka is damaged, making it risky for heavy duty trucks to use the road.
Two weeks ago, he said, a truck got stuck in the road and a crane came to its rescue.
“If CRSG renege on constructing a simple toilet at the same Masiaka tollgate which has turned to a death- trap how can they construct school and market or even to fix up street lights in fulfillment of their own part of the contract?”
“We are holding president Bio-led government accountable for this continuous gross of abuse not the former government,” he said.
