As the game becomes tougher, the Sierra Leone Speaker of Law house, Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu, has retired from his post.
But many say the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) succeeded in removing the current Speaker of Parliament, under what many had referred to as Speaker ‘removed allegedly under heavy pressure’.
The reason for his removal others have noted is to give way for a staunch SLPP member take the speakership position.
Other sources said the Speaker’s removal is not unconnected to what has transpired in recent times ranging from the Clerk of Parliament under Umaru Paran Tarawally’s saga down to the choosing of the ECOWAS parliament representations.
Some of the SLPP in Parliament are unhappy about the decision to remove the Speaker but they have no option.
Since the saga between Paran Tarawally and the Speaker ensured, Dr. Bundu had not been punctual in the Well of Parliament to preside over sittings.
Some of the opposition MPs who spoke to this medium said, the successful plot for him to be booted out was because he was under duress.
They said it is not constitutional to remove the Speaker but others said now that the Speaker has resigned under threat, they will ensure that a new speaker is to be voted in as per law.
Some APC MPs said if the Speaker would have not resigned they he will have been virtually unable to resist the plot to remove him from office.
Others sources disclosed that the former Speaker of ECOWAS Parliament, Hon Mohaned Sidi Tunis, the Deputy Speaker Hon Sengehpoh Solomon Thomas and Hon Veronica Kadie Sesay have eye for the speakership position.
Debates on the three MPs to grab the speakership according to sources are now within parliamentary corridors.
Others have pointed out that the former ECOWAS Speaker of Parliament if given the opportunity will bring home the goodies of what he may have learnt at the ECOWAS parliament while others have maintained that the current Deputy Speaker is a lawyer.
And he also has a plethora of experiences in parliamentary procedures.
The ECOWAS female Caucus President, Hon Veronica Kadie Sesay, is remoured to be going for the enviable position.
