In a bid to show sign of acceptance and appreciation to the re-appointment of the esteemed and revered Minister of Lands and Country Planning, Dr. Turad Senessie that the prolific Women’s Forum Network has decided to visit the minister in order to pledge their unwavering support for his re-appointment in office.
The members took this step to commend the Minister for utilizing his professionalism and office to address the long standing and protracted land conflicts that has long been affecting the ownership of land in the city and the country at large. The institution’s members stated that president Bio made no mistake to refill the Minister in that Ministry, with the conviction that, his effort in mitigating land dispute and accelerating reforms for the empowerment of women in the area of land affairs.
They disclosed that the Minister’s inclusive policies have made a notable headway in fostering security and sustainable progress in the country. The Minister’s dedication to establishing a platform for every citizen, especially women, gave him standing ovation among colleague Ministers and the public at large.
The Forum extended their commendation to His Excellency the president for his careful selection in appointing Ms. Phylis Kapu, as a female Deputy, in the realm of the land Ministry. The members argued that Kapu’s position not only shows the administration to gender parity, but also acknowledges women’s important role in land management.
Members of the Forum described the Deputy Minister as a woman capacitated with profound expertise, and she is there to render an all-important support to Dr. Turad Senessie and facilitating women’s concern within the Ministry. They also vividly believed that combination of Minister Senessie and Deputy Minister Kapu will continue to pour in positive changes within the Ministry.
Members added that, their leadership will continue to accelerate the execution of policies that promote gender parities, advocate for women land ownership and advocate for women active engagement in decision making processes. They noted that women’s empowerment and gender parity are prerequisite for women sustainable growth.
Sierra Leone can only make women to unleash their full potential when engaging them in land administration and assure them of their unbiased access and authority on land resources. This is the system approach use to reduce poverty, preservation of equilibrium and holistic national development.
The Forum passionately called on all stakeholders, including civil society entities, development partners and the general public to come together to give unflinching support to the imitative of the Ministry and participate in the pursuit of gender sensitive land administration.
