Inspector Joshua Moisa attached at the criminal investigation department (CID) headquarters has during the weekly police press update on Tuesday 21st, February, 2023 at the police headquarters on George street informed newsmen that they are currently investigating one RSLAF Corporal 18182496, Ibrahim Yayah whose AK 47 rifle with live 30 rounds got missing while he was on duty at the central Bank of Sierra Leone.
According to Inspector Joshua Moisa, on Tuesday 7th, February, 2023, Major Saidu Sillah attached at State House arrested Corporal 18182496 Ibrahim Yayah attached to the Bank of Sierra Leone. He said Major Saidu Sillah reported that Corporal Ibrahim Yayah claimed that while he was on duty at the Bank of Sierra Leone his AK47 gun with 30 live rounds magazine got missing.
Joshua Moisa disclosed that during the course of police investigation, it was revealed that Corporal Ibrahim Yayah deceived Major Saidu Sillah as the fact was that Corporal Ibrahim Yayah went with a prostitute and before having sex they agreed on NLe40. He said Corporal Ibrahim Yayah did not have money to pay after having sex with the prostitute and, he decided to leave his AK47 rifle as collateral, adding that the prostitute became very uncomfortable with the gun and she took the gun to one Sergeant Bangura for safe custody and he too handed the rifle to another Inspector Bangura.
According to Joshua Moisa, both Sgt. Bangura and Inspector Bangura did not act professionally because they held on to the rifle instead of informing the appropriate authority. He said the AK47 rifle has been discovered and are awaiting the appropriate authority of RSLAF to come and identify the said rifle.
He added that the two officers who did not act professionally are currently under investigation.
