Since the historic Cotton Tree in the central of Freetown, the usual seating place of the Wise Bird, was brought down by a heavy storm about a year ago, the brave bird sometimes finds it now very difficult to have a comfortable place to sit on to do its work conveniently.
As a result, the uncompromising and fearless bird is just moving from place to place to sit and do his official work.
As the political situation is not as favourable as the people may think, the Wise Bird and brave bird wants to know about all what is happening in and out of the country in order to be able to report the news to the people accurately.
The Wise Bird visited the office of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) to get firsthand information about the proclamation made by His Excellency the President Dr. Julius Maada Bio in respect of the fight against, the substance drug, Kush in the country.
The President in his wisdom has thought it fit to put an end to the ugly situation in the country today, which has made young men and women to become unconscious while leaving them incapable of doing anything.
The Wise Bird has noticed that since the President had made the proclamation of the public health emergency, KUSH is now very difficult to see and get, and as a result the price of KUSH seems to have doubled because of its scarcity in the market.
The Wise Bird is of the view that for a law to hold in any community, house, or work place, those within the community, house or work place should first of all respect the law.
But to the dismay of the Wise Bird supporters of the ruling party SLPP are no respecters of the proclamation being made by the President.
At the office of the SLPP, the Wise Bird met some boys selling and smoking KUSH openly at the back of the building at a place called ‘Bengazi’.
Simply put, the President, indirectly, cannot influence control of his party supporters.
How can the fight against KUSH be successful?
There is an old African saying that CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME.
After leaving the office, the Wise Bird was trying to put ideas together, and what came to mind was that the fight against KUSH will never see the light at the end of the day because it seemed the President did not first start where to start in the fight against KUSH.
Mr. Chairman of SLPP, this is your area, are you aware that KUSH is sold at the back of your office at a place called Bengazi?
The Wise Bird will make a follow-up on the issue.
