The Member of Parliament from Falaba District has Hon Mohamed Conteh has referred to the economic hardship of the people of Falaba District related to the economic situation in the country and went on to decry deforestation caused by timber logging.
Hon. Conteh called on the authority responsible for stopping timber loggers from sexually harassing and abusing school-going student in the district.
The Member of Parliament representing the people of Falaba District Hon Mohamed Conteh made the submission on Tuesday 21 November 2023 during the debate of the budget 2024 in the Well of Parliament.
The MP used his maiden speech to call on Parliament and the Government of Sierra Leone to consider development for the people of Falaba District.
Hon Mohamed Conteh informed the House that roads linking to the Falaba District are nothing to write home about and used the occasion to plead with the government to construct roads leading to the district, ‘We are the most deprived district in the country’, he asserted.
He also informed the House that the Government is losing a lot of revenue from gold mining due to the poorest borders linking the country.
