The North America Women’s leader of the NGC political party, Mrs. Newtina Tunner, who is currently based in North Carolina USA has disclosed to Africa24 newspaper that, their former leader and party’s flag bearer Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella (KKY) is a very big disappointment and a disgrace to Sierra Leone and the National Grand Coalition ( NGC).
Interviewed by Abdul Malik Sesay, Mrs. Tunner also opined that Dr. Yumkella went into an illegal alliance with the SLPP without the approval of the top executive and most importantly the grassroots of the party, adding that he never had enough votes that would have comfortably sailed him through Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), and so such an ‘unfortunate decision’ made by him was never in the interest of the nation and the party, NGC.
Yumkella, she went on, fooled the NGC membership as to the outcome and details on the alliance agreement with SLPP and Madam Tunner described such an “ungrateful decision” taken by the politician as unacceptable to the whole NGC membership at the time.
Furthermore, she said, Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella had made a very big mistake in his life; as he thinks the SLPP will make him a party flag-carrier in 2028 after the tenure of President Bio.
“He is day-dreaming; we at the NGC will strongly campaign against him and will explain to Sierra Leone people that he is a fraud and is not fit to rule [our country] due to his fishy and selfish attitude.
“KKY is a fake; we had spent all our hard-earned monies on him which he never appreciated,” she claimed.
Mrs. Tunner also said, they had stood behind Dr. Yumkella thinking that because of his educational background and international exposure at the UN, he would follow suit the “enduring democratic tendencies” of late President Kabbah of blessed memories.
However, Mrs Tunner added, Yumkella chose to betray Sierra Leone and the NGC.
“Even though he is boasting of being a champion of climate change, he was never invited or considered by the international community to take part in the past climate change conference instead the Mayor of Freetown was invited.
“And what a big shame was that among the 100 climate change advocates KKY was never mentioned in the list.
“He could be part of that group because he had failed to focus on protecting his integrity.
“And his demonstrates that KKY is never reliable in any capacity and those who knew him better than us had advised us to be very careful in dealing with him, but we made a mistake by regarding him as a nation’s saviour,” NGC’s women’s leader claimed.
All efforts by Africa24 team in Freetown to get comments from Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella regarding Mrs. Tunner’s sharp utterances and unverified claims proved unsuccessful.
Africa24 newspaper will, however, continue to press hard for Dr. Yumkella’s responses on the above allegations.
All efforsgt to reach Dr. Kandeh Kolleh Yumkella on mobile No. +232 78 807238 proved futile.
