8 accused including Abu Sesay, Issa Tarawallie alias “smoky” Mohamed Koroma alias ‘Indian man’ and Isatu Tarawallie have appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No1.
They were to answer three count charges to wit conspiracy; to commit a crime and for wounding and riotous conduct as contrary to law.
It was alleged that the accused persons on Sunday May 12th 2024 at Marimbo, Juba Hills in Freetown conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a crime which led to a grievous bodily harm and wounding of one Musa Kamara alias ‘Number one.
It was also alleged on count three that on the same date and address in Freetown they did behave in a riotous manner.
Police prosecutor Sergeant 9939 Lahai was the lead prosecution and witness number one Umaru Kamara is a businessman who was to testify in court.
He stated that he knew the complaints as his brother and caretaker for his land at Juba and he did recognize all the accused persons.
And he did recall on the 12th May this year he was at home in the morning hours, and something transpired between the accused and the victim. He said on that day he sent the complaint Musa Kamara to the said land to work. The land was not far from where he was residing, he further added that for his house he saw the all 8 accused persons approaching the place where his brother and some boys were working holding cutlasses and sticks in their hands.
He said he heard the first accused saying that “ Na Life they comot ya” and he also overheard the 7th accused saying that the had warned him about the land.
The witness said that the victim had to call him to come to the site and on his way he heard people screaming “ dem don kill am”. And upon his arrival he saw the his brother lying on the ground with blood coming out of his head.
He said he felt sorry for his brother and so he helped him with some people whom he paid to board a bike.
They went to the Lumley Police station where they had to make reports and police issue out medical report and he had to take him to the Lumley hospital. But due to the serious nature of the victim’s condition, they were referred to emergency hospital and they also referred them to Connaught Hospital to take for further treatment where he was currently admitted.
The Defense Lawyer C. Kamara cross-examined the witness and later made bail application on behalf of his clients.
But due to the serious nature of the case, bail was refused to all accused persons by the magistrate. And thus they were remanded to the male and Female Correctional Facility.
The matter was adjourned to 12th June 2024, for further hearings.
