Salone female boxer, Sara, is on a climax stage in the Flyweight Female Champions in Canada.
In a bid to improve the standard of sporting discipline both national and international level, the boxer, Sara Haghighat-Joo, on Saturday 27th April, defeated Lupita Baustita to claim the WBA World Championship in Toronto, Canada.
Sara was born in British Columbia, and was the reigning amateur boxing champion of Canada and Ireland.
She is a holder of the Irish 54kg national title, and a credit to many other Canadian boxing laurels.
She is determining to help Sierra Leone bagging her international medals in the International Boxing Arena.
Joo earlier had fought for Sierra Leone during the zone two boxing competition which took place in 2022 at the Bintumani Conference Center in Freetown.
According to Sara, her grandparents are from Sierra Leone, and so she has decided to compete for Sierra Leone and to see how she could help to develop female boxing sport in the country.
Gossips indicate that Sara is now the new WBA Light Weight Female World Champion and Sara’s next bout will be in Thailand in the Olympic qualifiers to help Sierra Leone get a spot in France 2024 Olympic Games.
But she is going for the World race at a time of Sierra Leone’s financial challenges, thus in terms of support to her, she might face hiccups due to the economic crisis in the country.
