Bra Parrot loves Sierra Leone and Sierra Leoneans as well that is more the reason people have been referring to the wise bird as a very patriotic bird; because the wise bird is all ways on the side of the people by way of defending them on national issues.
The wise bird as usual and as always moves from place to place to get the fact about issues and in turn tells the people what they love to hear, as the bird doesn’t depend on ear-say to mislead the people.
As the wise bird was flying from the west-end of the capital to the east-end, the bird made a stop-over at the Eastern police round-about to observe and to know more about the surrounding.
The wise bird noticed that, a construction work is going on at the roundabout of the Clock-Tower and part of Fourah Bay Road going to the east-end part, of which the wise bird was very much happy to have seen something to be going on in respect of national development.
Bra Parrot tried to talk to one of the workers; this is what he said to the wise bird: “we are just assisting we don’t know the company that is constructing the place’’ he said, and the wise bird did not push further to know more, from that point the wise bird knew that, proper procedures were not followed to award the contract; whether it was advertised or not only Heaven knows.
What beats the imagination of the wise bird is that, up to date, a place which is not even a half- kilo- meter road has taken almost two months and is incomplete; the work is poorly done on a road leading to Fourah Bay Road as is still untouched.
Bra Parrot starts to wonder and starts asking questions, was the contract advertised for bidders to bid? Was it put on paper for the public to know? How was the contract awarded? Or was it just a way for some jobs for the boys so that, the President will gain points in his first two months in power, and so he will get a pass mark?
If that is the case, the contractor has put President Bio into shame to say the least. The wise bird noticed with dismay that, the work was poorly done in that part of the capital city, and these are some of the reasons the wise bird always says President Bio sometimes puts ‘square pegs in round holes’.
If at all the Minister of Works worth his salt, this is the time for him to act because now under the Clock Tower it is obviously an eye-sore to the public citizenry including foreigners.
About 75% of Bio’s appointees are not working in his interests and that they’re like all ‘arm-chair’ ministers – they don’t move to get first-hand information about their ministries.
The wise bird is always in sympathy with the President as those he trusted so much do not seem to have trust in him or love him.
