It was a historic day on Saturday 9th December, 2023 at Romamboi village, five (5) miles to Lunsar in the Port Loko district, north of Sierra Leone, where a mammoth crowd gathered to witness the official commissioning of a three (3) classroom building plus Headmaster’s office constructed by the Dadas Foundation.
In his opening remarks, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization Mr. Adel Karim Dadas recalled among other things that, about 30 years ago, his late father Pa Dadas came to Romamboi village and bought a land which he later developed to help the people in that community.
He went further to say that even though the land was bought by his father, but at the same time it belonged to the community people.
Mr. Dadas also stated that the Foundation was established to fully support education in the entire Marampa, given that, education is a key to everything including national development.
The CEO therefore encouraged parents to send their children to school to develop themselves and the community.
On behalf of the Foundation Mr. Dadas promised to do more in the Romamboi village and the entire community.
Many dignitaries graced the ceremony including the Chairman of the Port Loko District Council Mr. Sheku Tejan Saccoh who donated a large quantity of books to the school in a very joyful manner that symbolises the overwhelming gratitude and great passion that stakeholders have for education in that community. The Councillor of Ward 261 Constituency 070 also made very salient contributions in many other ways.
Meanwhile, the Berny’s Hope Foundation another vital nongovernmental organization that is also making tremendous inroad towards developmental programmes in that community provided furniture for the school.
The representative of the Paramount Chief Mr. Alfred M. Kabia who also doubles as Chairman of the six ruling houses in the Chiefdom, said among other things that, any family without an educated person is a family of sorrow.
Mr. Kabia further stated that indeed the Dadas Foundation has brought light to Romamboi community as they have also complimented the effort of government in the area of education.
He further assured the people that, he will report accordingly to the Paramount Chief the outcome of the ceremony to see the kind of assistance they will give towards the development of the school. More intrigued and very exciting was the traditional dance that climaxed the occasion.
