The wise bird is asking this important question not necessarily because he wants to judge the calibre of members of the committee set up to investigate the sacking of over one hundred workers in Parliament but fears that the outcome will somehow be doubtful because some of them who masterminded the sacking are also members of the investigation.
This particular ugly development has continued to give the patriotic bird some sleepless nights because the affected persons are fellow Sierra Leoneans too and need respect and justice given it’s their fundamental human rights.
From the onset, Bra Parrot has been following the activities in the Honourable House of Parliament with keen interest particularly to ensure that there is fair play in the entire process because the number of those sacked is significantly huge more so when some have already died following their sacking.
According to what the wise bird gathered from its intensive investigations in Parliament it has been revealed that, their sacking was not just because due process of the law was not followed and the wrong decision may have led to their early demise.
In the spirit of public accountability and transparency a sub-committee has been set up by the leadership of the Honourable House of Parliament to investigate the circumstances surrounding their sacking and what led to the death of some of them. All what the eldest citizen of this Republic is desiring from the entire process is nothing more than just fair play.
Honestly, the wise animal welcomed the institution of the Committee and its members like Hon. Dr. Abass Chernor Bundu Speaker of Parliament, Hon. S.S Thomas Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mathew Nyuma Leader of government Business, Hon. Abdul Kargbo Leader of the opposition in Parliament the only bone of contention is the inclusion of Hon. Paran Tarawally the Clerk of Parliament who is singled out to have done the sacking.
How can he be in the Committee when he is the one who did the act? It will be like serving as a referee and a player at the same time.
The other problem Bra Parrot also has is that, an allegation has been levied against the same Clerk of Parliament to have employed his own wife to work in Parliament which some people have considered to be unethical if not a broad day light corruption.
The question the wise bird now wants to ask is that, who actually the Committee is targeting to investigate when the man under investigation is now part of the investigating Committee?
The expected answer is there will be no justice for the innocent victims.
So in actual fact, the setting up of the Committee itself makes no sense at all because it will be like a mere waste of energy, resources and time thus given credence to the maxim: “Energy wasted no work done.”
The wise bird will follow the issue to the letter.
