The Leader of the Opposition, All People’s Congress Party (APC) in the House of Parliament, Hon Abdul Kargbo, has explicitly requested to all citizens and sympathizers of the APC to disregard any notice of his inclusion in a seven-man delegation to Washington DC as claimed by the Chief Minister.
Hon Karbgo asserted that, this information came to his attention only on 9th January 2024 after the circulation of the letter on social media, a situation he deems contrary to principles of best practices and standards.
In a resolute statement, Hon Abdul Kargbo had emphasised his unwavering commitment to serving both his party and the wider populace..
He passionately urged all Comrades to still have hope, stressing that his primary focus is dedicated to ensuring the success of the ‘tripartite process” which seeks to address electoral fraud in the June 2023 multi-tier elections.
Crucially, he categorically rejected any engagement that might legitimize the existing of Bio/SLPP regime.
This unwavering stance by him underscores his dedication to democratic principles and the integrity of electoral processes, according to opposition supporters.
“It is paramount for the public to note that any information suggesting his involvement in a trip to Washington DC should be promptly dismissed; as such an endeavour contradicts the core agenda of his party [APC] the democratic ascent to governance in the not-too-distant future,” he said.
Hon Abdul Kargbo’s steadfast commitments to upholding democratic values and and determination to addressing electoral concerns represent a pivotal stance in the political landscape, as many believe, has showcased his dedication to transparent and fair governance in African small country, Sierra Leone.
At the weekly Government press conference, the Chief Minister, Dr Moinina Sengeh, revealed that, a seven-man delegation will be heading to Washington DC to deepen the bilateral relationship between the Government of Sierra Leone and the United States of America.
According to the Chief Minister, the delegation will engage the US Congress and board members of US Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).
He said members of the delegation will comprise Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Hon. Abdul Kargbo, Foreign Minister Timothy Kabba, Majority Leader in Parliament Matthew Nyuma, Civil Society Representative Abdul M Fatoma, President of All Political Parties Association Prince Coker, CEO of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Unit-Sierra Leone Ndeye Koroma and the leader of the delegation Chief Minister Dr David Sengeh.
