The Sierra Leone beach volleyball team has successfully qualified for the All-African Games following an intense tournament against Gambia and Senegal in the Zone Two Beach Volleyball Championship.
The success comes in spite of the poor performance of the 46 sporting disciplines in Sierra Leone, over the years, in terms of making a mark in international competitions.
The competition was held at the Africell beach sports arena in Freetown with players showcasing remarkably their sporting skills.
The Gambian men’s team showed great strength and cooperation as they secured their place in the playoffs and ultimately won the golden medal.
Meanwhile, Senegalese women’s team displayed brilliant dexterity and tactical aptitudes and these features and prowess had earned them the golden medal as they received loud cheers from spectators.
Sierra Leone’s teams profoundly exhibited their talent and they eventually bought home well-deserving silver medals for both men’s and women’s side.
This years’ qualification for the All-African Games is a significant achievement for the beach volleyball sport in Sierra Leone.
Based on the hard work and dedication always shown by the volleyball team, they still enjoy a growing popularity among Sierra Leoneans.
The victory serves as an inspiration for future players and will influence further development of the sporting discipline in the country.
