The spokesman of the Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF), Colonel Issa Bangura, has informed newsmen at the government weekly press conference that 46 RSLAF personnel were being sacked.
According to Colonel Bangura, the personnel were sacked because they engaged in activities to overthrow the democratic President of Sierra Leone, Dr Julius Maada Bio.
He revealed that, the group of personnel formed and established a WhatsApp group called Joint Karamela Peace and Security Network with the sole purpose of overthrowing the Government of President Bio.
In another statement, the Information and Civic Education Minister, Chernor Bah, has informed the public about the new campaign ‘Salone Big Pass We All’ which is geared towards raising awareness of nationalism and patriotism.
Bah said, the ‘Salone Big Pass We All’ campaign seeks to put the Nation first and above anything else.
Minister Chernor Bah said the new airport is an investment to attract more flights to the country. According to him, a few flights will start operation in Sierra Leone with a notable one being Ethiopia Airlines. The Minister acknowledged the tax increase but assured the public that, the Government is working assiduously to reduce ticket prices.
Educationist, Dr Fatu Taqi, called on the government to address key economic challenges and urged citizens to be patriotic and stopped destroying government properties.
Dr Taqi further stated that the government should focus on Civic Education. She called on the government to commemorate January 6 for citizens to truly understand what happened in the country on that [fateful] day.
