Alpha Jalloh, Alusine Conteh and Mohamed Lamin Kamara made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road court No.2 in Freetown on three count charges to wit Conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to law.
The crime was for store breaking and larceny as contrary to section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916 and received stolen goods contrary to section 33 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence on Monday 15th April 2024 at #25 Wilkinson Road in Western area in Freetown, the accused conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit store breaking and larceny.
On count two it was stated that the first and second accused persons had the intent to steal broke and after he entered into the store of Issam Basma and stole therein three hundred and twenty two iron props all to the total sum of one hundred and sixty one thousand Leones(161,000) as property of Issam Basma.
Count three further stated that the third accused person did receive two hundred iron props all to the total sum of one hundred thousand Leones (100,000) property of Issam Basma knowing same to have been stolen.
DPC 18325 Thoronka K.K lead Prosecution witness number three Sergeant 8773 Fatmata Bridget Turay attached to the Criminal Investigation Department at Lumley Police Station.
He recognized the complainant and accused persons in this matter on the 15th April 2024. Whilst on duty at the said office a case of store breaking was reported at the said station and upon that the matter was allocated to her for investigation and she said herself together with Sergeant 11640 Conteh T J together with the complainant Sergeant 11640 Conteh T.J took photographs of the scene of crime and statement was obtained from the complainant and from the witnesses.
She further stated that on the 16th and 17th April 2024 the first and second accused persons were arrested and brought to the police station and where a caution statement was obtained from the accused persons in Krio language which was recorded in English language witness by Sergeant 11640 Conteh T.J. She signed the voluntary caution statement and evidence was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court records.
On the 24th April 2024 , she together with Sergeant said investigator charged the accused persons with the offense they’re standing trial on.
The witness was cross examined by I.Smith on behalf of the accused persons and he renewed his previous Bail applications on behalf of the accused persons.
Meanwhile Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent all accused persons to the male correctional facility in Freetown matter adjourned to the 24th May 2024.
