The people of Freetown including the Wise Bird jumped into jubilation when the news broke out that, the President Dr. Julius Maada Bio himself had taken over the Ministry of Energy.
To them that was a welcoming news to the people as their expectations to get light was and still very high.
But their hopes were dashed out when they continue to see that the situation is just the same as was before as homes are still in dark with no light at all.
The people jubilated including the Wise Bird himself because of the intervention of the President in the ministry.
Little did the people know that, the situation will continue just as it was before the first man’s intervention?
The Wise Bird is of the view that, at a time like this, with the intervention of the first gentleman blackout should have been a thing of the past in the city, but unfortunately it did not work that way.
To the dismay of the Wise Bird, a house close to the tree where the Wise Bird used to sit has gone without light for almost two weeks, even though the President is now at the helm of affairs.
Bra Parrot as usual went out to sound the views of people in respect of the continuous power-cut in the city; most of the people the Wise Bird spoke to described the intervention of the President as a mere joke.
Some of the people said this is the first time, in the history of Mama Salone, for a ministry to have three (3) ministers in at the same time and nothing is seemed to be done so quickly.
Some of the people said, at present the President is out of the country and so how can he supervise his workers to do the needful.
The Wise Bird was astonished when he got the news that the President is out of the country just so soon after a change in the power ministry.
According to information reaching the Wise Bird from where he was sitting, the alleged US$ 46million dollars owned to Karpowership is not paid to the satisfaction of the management of Karpowership, and the question of getting a sustainable light in the capital of Freetown is yet questionable.
What has again amazed the people is that the Chief Minister had come out openly without being diplomatic in his words accusing some government ministries that they are in the habit of “stealing light.”
After the Wise Bird has taken a deep breath to put his ideas together, he came to the realization that, it was not just a shame on the Chief Minister alone for not been able to supervise the ministries but by extension a shame on the government as well.
The Wise Bird has never been a minister before, but from experience, he knows that ministers are always on the defensive and not on the offensive.
The behavior of some ministers is tantamount to immaturity as some lack basic experience in governance.
