As the 14th edition of the Ernest Bai Koroma Football tournament grand final concluded in Makeni City, Golden Dragon takes home Le 30,000,000 ( thirty million) old leones as star prize.
Amidst a crescendo of excitement and reverence at the Wusum Stadium in Makeni City on Sunday, April 28th, 2024, the grand final of the 14th edition of the
EBK Legacy Football Tournament concluded and was sponsored by the esteemed member of Parliament Hon Chernor Ramadan Maju Bah aka Chericoco.
He has been Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader in Parliament and 2018 and 2023 running mate.
The Tournament stands as a beacon of unity and camaraderie, reaching its zenith on Sunday as Ocean Boys clashed with Dragon FC.
The tournament is a thrilling show and an example because of its ultimate prize.
From seasoned players to aspiring talents every player, they’d left their hearts on the field showcasing their love for the beautiful game.
Hon Chericoco, the brain behind this tournament, presented the trophies and prizes to the teams and players.
He started by congratulating Golden Dragon from Khalifa Rowala Cheifdom as champions of the 2023 EBK Trophy..
Hon Chericoco echoed the rationales behind organizing such a tournament, aiming not only to uphold, preserve, and celebrate the legacy of former President Koroma, but also to promote peace, unity and diversity through football.
He emphasized that the tournament, which is held annually, always brings teams from different parts of the country to showcase their talents.
He affirmed his commitment and the former President’s commitment to upholding the tournament for the next generation.
He extended thanks and appreciations from former President Koroma to all teams for their articipation.
Hon Chericoco deeply appreciated all stakeholders of the party who showed up to grace the event.
He concluded by presenting the trophy to the winner Golden Dragon from Kholifa Rowala Chiefdom with a star prize of Thirty million old Leones and twenty five million old Leones to the Ocean Boys (the runners up) with the third receiving consolation prizes.
