For those who know Bra Parrot very well can attest to the fact that he is always fearless especially when it comes to matter of seeking the interest of fellow Sierra Leoneans at every given time.
In that direction, Bra Parrot can say without hesitation that, President Dr. Julius Maada Bio is not in any way honest to the people of Sierra Leone especially when it comes to fulfilling one of his heralded campaign promises of fighting corruption with all his might.
If fact, what we are seeing since he came to power is the direct opposite with graft increasing at rocket speed under his direct watch.
If only President Bio is very serious about fighting corruption as he promised, he would have started it from the top to the bottom that means from his own very office down to the least public office as the wise bird always contemplates.
The on-going corruption case against one of the senior most public officials, the Clerk of Parliament is one of the matters everybody felt the President would have taken immediate action against the culprit to send a strong signal to others who would dear attempt the evil act in future.
But for the President to just say after a long time ‘I will handle the matter, I was busy on other things,’ is considered as insincerity and dishonesty because many others have been exposed and publicly embarrassed for similar if not for lesser case like the case of the poor teachers who were tagged and paraded at the cotton tree at broad daylight.
The wise bird thought that, the President should have acted immediately he got the news but surprisingly not.
To crown it all, President Bio has not kept to his promise of fighting corruption, lawlessness and to block all the leakages since he assumed power in 2018 to date.
Today, if anyone is to put a grade on corruption it should be 95% because most of the big guns in this administration are embedded in corrupt practices but are often let off the hook whenever they are caught in the act, the case of the Clerk of Parliament is a clear example.
To the dismay of the wise bird, the Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Francis Ben Kelfalah whose office is dealing with that case has only told the people of this country that they have so far recovered 151million old leones from the wife of the shamed Clerk of Parliament Abibatu Paran Tarawally as the salary she received as a staff of Parliament for nineteen (19) months without going to work.
The question the wise bird is asking is that, is that a perfect and only way to fight corruption under the SLPP government?
As usual the wise bird sounded the views of people on this burning issue and all those he spoken to, expressed disappointments over the action of the Chief Commissioner and by extension shifting the blame to the President for not being serious in fighting corruption.
Paying back the money is not the only or the best way of fighting corruption the people said, if the Clerk of Parliament is sacked now it makes no news because such action is long overdue.
Bra Parrot therefore wants to advise our president that in future he should be proactive rather than reactive and do so without fear or favour.
