The Executive Director of one of the leading civil society organisations in Sierra Leone, Citizens Right Network, Ibrahim Bai Koroma has informed newsmen at his office 34 Goderich Street in Freeetown that as President Bio is fighting hard to curb corruption in the country, some people are still considering themselves as sacred cows.
“There should be no sacred cow in the fight against corruption in the country,” he said.
According to Mr. Koroma, the attention of Citizens Right Network Sierra Leone (CRN-SL) has been drawn to the recent case of corruption against the Clerk of Parliament, Hon Paran Tarawally.
He said the alleged misappropriation of government funds, conflict of interest, embezzlement and abuse of office has become topical in Parliament, a house that make laws, represent and conduct oversight functions.
He furthered that his organisation is fully aware of the erroneous crime allegedly committed by the Clerk of the Sierra Leone Parliament, Hon Paran Tarawally on allegation that he employed his wife without following the due administrative processes.
Bai Koroma therefore called on President Bio, Speaker of Parliament and the Commissioner of the ACC to ask the Clerk of Parliament to step aside until the commission concludes its investigations.
He revealed that as CSO they have resolved that they will lead a peaceful demonstration at the Well of Parliament if Paran Tarawally fails to step aside.
He expressed determination to continue to help President Bio in the fight against corruption and urged all to fight against the canker worm of corruption in the country.
Meanwhile, the ACC Commissioner, Francis Ben Kelfala explained that he has had a meeting with the President on the investigation of alleged corruption by the Clerk of Parliament, Paran Tarawally and that the President will take administrative action in the coming days.
