The Chief Whip of the opposition government, Hon Abdul Karim Kamara has urged the Paopa goverment to use the existing Ebola and Coroa Virus centers to host the kush victims across the country.
He pointed out that it is widely believed that in any successful country young people are considered as the citadel of hope.
But in Sierra Leone, he said, this attribute is becoming the reverse considering the harmful substances, especially the Kush young people are absorbing which is almost inhibiting their existence.
On that view, Opposition Chief Whip, Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara has stood firm to ensure that the killer drug substance is being eradicated in the country.
He has been taking the campaign to various schools and communities and the exercise is yielding good dividends for the nation.
In an interview, he started analyzing how Kush has entered almost all communities including villages and that the drug is likely more dangerous than the coronavirus. He added that many communities and villages were not recording covid cases.
He further said that the issue of hunting the smokers should not be the center stage but chasing out the importers of the drug should be the key focus.
This is because, he said, without the importers bringing the kush in the country there is no proclivity for a rampant drug consumption among youth.
He called for stiffer regulations be implemented that would halt the importation of the kush substance.
Also the Opposition Chief Whip proposed that there should be running up rehabilitation centers like the time of Ebola and Coronavirus ravage.
He said the centres would serve as places where the victims would be taken for medication and to eventually re-integrate themselves into a decent society.
Opposition Chief Whip inevitably lamented on the resource allocation to Drug Law Enforcement Agency as it is responsible to tackle the drug menace in the country.
He said the government has not allocated huge sum to the medical agency that would have capacitated it to carry out its functions effectively and efficiently.
He said the agency has become almost a toothless bulldog.
“President Bio should not be keeping quiet; he needs to speak up to address the issue of Kush in the country.”
He made this statement due to the silence of the President over the issue of kush smoking which is killing the younger generation.
He made a clarion call to all patriotic citizens to put hands on deck to the fight against the harmful kush drug smoked by young people in the country.
