The Director of Operations for the Sierra Leone Police, Assistant Inspector General Mohamed Allieu Braima Jah has told journalists at the weekly police press briefing held yesterday 24th May, 2023 at the Police Headquarters on George Street that the Sierra Leone police force is not prepared to lose any police towards violence and crime.
According to AIG Braima Jah, after the 2018 elections, Sierra Leone dropped 10 places in the Global peace index due to violence, adding that their preparedness towards the general elections started during the Mid-term census as they are charge with the legal mandate to provide security.
He added that the Office of National Security and the Sierra Leone Police tour the whole country to able to understand where there are violent communities to engage them directly. He said they were able to identify flashpoints and hotspots areas of violence during the conducted tour while he told that the hotspot areas needed joint deployment of both the military and the police.
The Director of Operations, AIG Braima Jah admonished citizens to obey the rule of the law and practice political tolerance, adding that political parties should also obey the rule of the law and refrain from violence activities.
