Fifty-five years old Kemoh Bangura a tailor, fifty years old Alimamy Bangura a driver and fifty-eight years old Pa Alimamy Kargbo a farmer made their first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown on a count of soliciting to murder contrary to Section 4 of the offences against the Person Act 1816.
According to the particulars of offence on Saturday 20 April 2024 at Rokon Village, Magbina Section, Bake Loko Chiefdom Port Loko the Northern Province in Freetown solicited the services of herbalist Alusine Kamara to kill Dr. Abu Bakarr Bangura
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh led prosecution witness number one Abu Bakarr Bangura the Director of Sierra Leone Law School he recognized all the accused in the dock he recalled on the 20th April 2024 something transferred between himself and the accused on the above date he received a call from one Alusine Kamara after missing several calls from him who told him that he was taken to his office to be killed. He then asked him who is the person that took me to your office and he mentioned all the three accused names to him he also told him that the three accused have gone to Kamakwie to collect certain materials to be buried in other form as a result of which animals and people would be dying. He asked the said Alusine for his location he told him that he is a Port Loko he told him to meet him at the farm which he did and the said Alusine repeated all what he told him on his phone he asked the said Alusine for evidence for all what he has told him he then said he was to be killed on a Sunday and to seal the arrangements they would see him on the Saturday he then asked the said Alusine to obtain recordings of their arrangement for him.
The witness further stated that on the Sunday morning the said Alusine produced a recording to him when he had the first accused said he will pay Alusine when he dies. He gave him another audio of the second accused arrangement at Kamakwie.
He immediately ran to Freetown the witness said Alusine Kamara told him that the first accused gave him his house document as collateral for his payment if he get killed the witness said Alusine Kamara called him and told him that the first accused asked for a return of his title deeds because he failed to accomplish his mission, he got a police officer who arrested the first accused he was taken to the police at this stage the prosecutor seek for a short adjournment date.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura refused bail and sent the accused to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown matter adjourned to the 4th June 2024.
