The Masjid Sunnah Mosque at Allen town in east of Freetown, the capital city of Sierra Leone, was jam-packed with all class of muslims from various parts of the country to grace the very important celebration of the 20 years anniversary of the Allen town Muslim Association, on 3rd December, 2023.
In his contributions, the founder of the association who doubles as Secretary General, Alhassan Bangura popularly known as (Councilor) disclosed that the association started with five Mosques but has over the years developed to 23 Mosques which connotes the fact that a huge number of members in the community and beyond have registered. He said that from the time the association was formed, God has been promoting it, adding that their primary objectives are to promote Islam in many ways on various platforms including education and infrastructure. He said that the other purpose for the formation of the association is to foster peace and unity amongst Muslims in their community and in the country at large. The founder also disclosed that the association is affiliated with the United Council of Imams (UCI) out of which a huge number of its executive are members as well as the Wellington Muslim Association (WMA) which makes it one of the most significant Muslim associations that is growing rapidly and contributing immensely to the development of Islam and the country in diverse ways.
The Financial Secretary of the association Sheik Umaru Kabia also added that the celebration was graced by high profiled Muslim scholars and dignitaries from various parts of the country including Dr. Mohamed Habib Sheriff, President of Council of Imans, Sheik Alhaji Fomba Swaray who is one of the renowned Islamic orators in the country, Alhaji Issa Galie Sesay whose scholastic recognition is widely spread in and out of the city and beyond, Alhaji Mans Kanu an astute Islamic scholar whose personality is in the good books of this nation all made meaningful and unforgettable contributions towards the success of the celebration. Also, all executives of the Allen town Muslim Association including the acting President Frank Jalloh made very vital contributions.
