In a press release dated 29th June, 2023, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has disclosed that the Commission under the watch of the re-appointed Commissioner, Francis Ben Keifala recovered the whopping amount of over forty-five billion old Leones (NLe45,000) as cash recovered with vehicles, houses and other immovables from 2018 to 2023.
The release furthered that the first five years tenure of the ACC Boss has seen the country made indelible gains in the fight against corruption and recorded unprecedented in both external and internal corruption perception indexes and surveys including the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Scorecard, the Transparency International Corruption Perception Index, the Afro-Barometer Report, the Public Financial Management (PFM), Consortium National Corruption Perception Survey Report and others.
The ACC continued that during the leadership of Francis Ben Keifala, the Commission and the country got many local and international accolades, laurels, awards and recognitions for effort in the fight against graft, adding that the ACC made record convictions following the expiration of the ACC Commissioner first term in office on 28th June, 2023. And this also witnessed the construction and movement of the ACC into the Integrity House at Tower Hill which now serves as the ACC’s Headquarters Building in Freetown.
