Mr. Moses Comboh Sesay, SLCB Director of Business Development, officially launched two new products on February 15th, 2023, at the bank’s 50th anniversary celebration news conference held at the SLCB headquarters on Siaka Stevens Street in Freetown.
The Customer Service Manager, Mrs. Glenna Adeyoola, who made the description of the two new products, described them as “Mi Yone Seniors Account” and “Mi Yone Retirement Account.” According to her, the Mi Yone Seniors Account offers convenient banking to individuals aged 60 and above and can be opened either as a savings or current account, adding that the initial deposit is Le 50. Other features of the Mi Yone Seniors Account, she said, are “reduced COT charges of 1.5% on a current account and 8% on a savings account annually; checkbooks; a VIP card; and a dedicated teller if the deposit is above Le 100,000; one free statement request per year; automated sign-up on the Visa Card services; the SLCB MobileApp; and access to its ATMs and other visa-automated machines globally.”
In terms of requirements, Mrs. Glenna Adeyoola said the applicant should have duly completed the application form with a valid identification card, NASSIT ID, or other documents that can identify you, such as utility bills or other forms of documentation for proof of address, and two passport-sized photographs, respectively. She described the second product as the “Mi Yone Retirement Account,” which she said is a savings account that allows the holder to save without withdrawals for a particular period geared towards the account holder’s retirement or when they stop working, noting that savings in his accounting can be done whether the person is employed or self-employed and can be in the form of a standing order.
The features of the Mi Yone Retirement Account, according to Mrs. Glenna Adeyoola, include “long-term savings; an initial deposit of LE100; 10 percent interest paid annually if no withdrawals were made; and, if the deposit is over $1,000, you will be given cheque books, a VIP card, and a dedicated teller.” Le100, 000; one free statement request per year; automatic signing Sign up for our Visa card services and the SLCB Mobile App to gain access to our ATM network.
The Director of Business Development, Moses Kombo Sesay, launched the two new products, describing yesterday, the day SLCB was established, as a great day for the bank that humbly started with only LE500 but can now boast of a balance sheet size of LE4.2 billion (new notes).He described the progress SLCB has made in the banking industry as growth that has taken place since February 15th, 1973, when the bank was formally established by the Government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) as the first indigenous commercial bank. Mr. Sesay attributed the success stories of the bank to the ability of the management and thanked the staff for their hard work and dedication to taking the bank project to a higher level. He admonished the general public to take advantage of the two new products, as they have lots of benefits.
