The Western Area Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Manso Dumbuya, has complained of the too much blackout in Freetown.
There have been power-cuts in the city going for weeks, thereby affecting many government functionaries and residents in most communities in Freetown and beyond.
Some community people of a particular area say the persistent blackout could have been caused by a faulty transformer. The said community has reported the fault to authorities at the Electricity, Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) but they never got any responses.
Other residents at Allen Town community accused EDSA authorities of leaving their community in deep black out.
“Come and fix our transformer. Our business have been damaged due to lack of electricity in the area,” One Alhaji Bah has told this medium.
Bah also claimed that EDSA have been playing games in supplying electricity to their community, adding that Allen Town community always suffer when it comes to electricity supply.
Just yesterday, Isata Kargbo said some armed robberies attacked due to the absence of electricity in their area.
“Thieves went into my resident, they struck off the roof, entered and cleared my daughter’s school materials and carted away some huge money I have kept for my children’s fees,” she narrated.
Kargbo pointed out that the rampant thievery in Allen Town is mainly because of the power blackout.
She called on the authorities to swiftly intervene and restore the problem of blackout.
