Thirty years old Abubakar Fofanah, a driver, thirty years old William Turay a driver, twenty-two years old Edward Renner, a cleaner and forty-seven years old, Alimamy Sesay a driver, have made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown.
On count two charges, they were accused of conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law and office breaking and larceny contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
According to the particulars of offence on Saturday 14th October 2023 at Virtues funeral home, Bolling Street, Kingtom in the Western Area in Freetown conspired together and with other persons unknown to commit a crime to wit office breaking and larceny.
On count two, on the same date and place, the accused with intent to steal, he broke and entered into the office of Madam Daphne Davies and stole therein a safe containing one thousand two hundred United States Dollars, physical cash of twenty one thousand seven hundred Leones, one LG musical set, one LG 42 inches Plasma television all to the total sum of thirty eight thousand seven hundred Leones(38,700) plus one thousand two hundred United States Dollars($1,200) as property of Madam Daphne Davies.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.
Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai led in prosecution witness number four Sergeant 8576 Issa Kamara live at Grafton Police Barracks attached to the exhibit office at the Criminal Investigation Department CID headquarters Pademba Road Freetown.
Some of his roles and responsibilities are to ensure the registration and safe keeping of all exhibit relating to matters that have been brought for investigation. He recall on the 20th November 2023 Inspector Kargbo N attached at the OPS office at the CID headquarters handed over to him one old orange colour absurd blade and one old scissors with red handle he registered it in the court exhibit book against serial number RCE 127/2023 since then it was in the custody of the police which he produce and tendered in court to form part of the court records
The witness was cross examined by the accused.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura refused bail for the third accused and bail continue for the 1st, 2nd and the matter of the 4th accused persons will come up on the 12th August 2024.
