Information reaching Africa24 sports desk has discovered that Sierra Leonean swimmer Joshua Wyse’s Olympic vacation has ended at the Paris 2024 Games with unfortunate display.
Wyse, 23, clocked 27.11 seconds in the men’s 50m freestyle, falling short of the top 16 times needed to advance to the semifinals rounds due to miserable show in recent times, in forlorn, securing 7th position out of 9 countries in the contest.
Despite not progressing, Wyse slightly improved on his previous time of 27.90 seconds set in Japan, and he was unable to beat his personal best of 27.09 seconds, achieved earlier in Ghana.
The young swimmer’s performance highlights his growth and potential as he competes on the world stage.
Wyse is the second Sierra Leonean athletes whose voyage at the 2024 Paris Olympics has ended sadly. Earlier last week, 17-year-old Mariama Koroma lost poorly against 36-year-old Lien Chen-ling of Taiwan in a judo match. And that race ended in 10.09 seconds.
