The Wise Bird loves to read newspapers, to watch television (TV) and many a time it moves to social media to get more accurate and correct news unfolding in a day.
The most respected, patriotic and uncompromising animal has been following on social media commentaries of one of the most respected, eloquent civil servant, who is former Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s party ( SLPP), who also doubles as Paramount Chief, with very high integrity and reputation in society, Chief Somanoh Kapen.
The Wise Bird saw that, the Chief in his commentaries on social media, he gave compressive analysis on the just concluded tripartite.
The bird noticed from the Chief’s commentary on the tripartite saying the said tripartite should not be a source of conflict with the APC as a party.
The tripartite should serve as a mechanism of building blocks aim to solidify the APC. At NAC meeting the party took a decision not to go to the Supreme Court, instead has used something that appears to be as orthodox to retrieve the winning.
Chief further stated that, the party should have continued in their boycott of governance until the full intervention of the peace commission from which the tripartite was born.
From what the bird saw and listened to from the commentary of the Chief, he said resolution three (3) was very clear, but the leadership did not make any effort to educate its members of the party, and even some members within the leadership did not understand what the tripartite was all about.
Chief further stated that, one cannot be in the leadership of a political party like the APC and does not understand what the tripartite was all about. and also resolution three(3).
The drafters of resolution used the purposing approach; he however, took into account the domestic law that, when one loses a presidential election he/she has seven (7) day to go to the Supreme Court if that person did not satisfy the outcome of the results.
If that person fails to go to court then it may be that the person hasn’t met the requirement of the 1991 constitution.
Chief said, last year, all international observers including National Elections Watch (NEW) came out to say the election was not free, fair or transparent. NEW came out to say no one won the election, because no one ever got the required percentage to win an election.
NAC, he said, came out to say that, going to court should be a faulty exercise on the side of the APC, and so whatever comes out of the tripartite is implementable and actionable, the Chief said.
Chef also quoted the American Ambassador as saying in his first interview that there would be no election re-run. And, according to Chief, the domestic law did not permit that, but saying that does not mean if it has the cover of international law.
In his second interview, Chief said, the American Ambassador said there are two baskets, the basket of transparency and accountability.
The Chief further alleged that the recommendations have gone to the Security Council, as the Security Council come out with a report to U N General Assemble.
In case there’s any report, it has to be sent to the AU or ECOWAS to recommend implementation.
The recommendations cannot be treated domestically Chief said.
The Wise Bird will say without hesitation that, in all of these, the government is buying time to continue their stay in power until the end of a five year.
The Wise Bird will continue to bring the commentaries of Chief Somanoh Kapen.
