One of the sporting disciplines in the country, the Sierra Leone Rugby Union (SLRU) is set to hold its first Extraordinary Congress at the Bintish Hotel in Bo city on the 19th -21st September, 2024 following the end of its recent elections.
It will bring together key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Sports and the National Sports Authority. The primary agenda of the Congress-meet will focus on endorsing the Union’s constitution, electing regional officers, and finalizing a four-year national strategy for the SLRU.
Additionally, the retreat will also aim to strengthen the SLRU’s newly formed National Management Team, which is committed to expanding rugby throughout all the districts in Sierra Leone, thus positioning the country for qualification in the next Rugby World Cup. The congress will also provide an opportunity to train rugby administrators and delegates on essential management skills.
The agenda includes discussions on formulating strategic plans and adopting a new constitution to guide the Union’s future activities.
