The Wise Bird is a friend to almost everybody in society that is more the reason the bird is loved by many including Police officers, the Army officers and even Prison officers.
The work of the Journalist and that of the Police is almost the same as it involves investigations and fact findings mission.
The police investigate to get the fact on issues and crimes that are committed; the same goes to the journalist as he/she investigates an issue to get the correct and accurate news of a particular incident.
But many a time some sections of the police consider journalists as antagonistic because they sometime unearth the odds of the police to the public to the embarrassment of the entire police force.
The Wise Bird will say without prejudice that, the police force is a very important arm of the government, because without the police the people are in a jungle, that is to say the strongest will only survive in society.
Without the police law and order will not be at work, when an incident occurs say a fight, wounding, murder, assault or any other ugly incident, the first point of call is for the complainant to go to the police station.
The journalist will only come into the show after the police must have done their investigations to get facts from the police for publication by way of informing the public about the incident.
That is more the reason why the police and the journalists should work hand-in-in glove, the police pursue criminals and corrupt persons, the journalist write on the issue.
Make no mistake, the police provide an invaluable service to the nation on a daily basis, police officers are on the streets at night while people may be sleeping.
The brave bird could say without hesitation that, police officers are everywhere in the country but unlike journalists are not all over the country, they are only in big towns like: Freetown (the capital), Bo, Kenema, Makeni, Portloko, Kambia and few other places.
Say what you may, in the police force, there are some decent police officers that have respect for journalists unlike others who consider journalists as enemies.
Take the case of the collapse building, few days ago at Shell new road, both journalists and the police were working in a very peaceful atmosphere and that should be the spirit of the citizenry. In a very civilized society, a police man knows his/her role, and the journalist knows his/her own role.
To crown it all, the Journalists, the Police, Army Officers, Prison Officers, Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, Traders and all other sectors are all partners in development.
