Report reaching this medium last night indicates that some one hundred and fifty (150) recruits that are undergoing training at the Police Training School (PTS) at Hastings have been ordered by the Inspector General of Police to quit the training on Saturday May 6th 2023.
This is the second batch of one thousand (1,000) Operations Support Division (OSD) recruits that have started training at the School three weeks ago.
Sources at PTS says senior officials from the Complaint Discipline Internal Investigations Department (CDIID) went to the training school and announced the names of recruits that should quit the training after a verification exercise conducted. It is not immediately clear what prompted such decision but sources say the Police Chief was not comfortable with the manner in which some names were included in the final list.
Some of the affected recruits claimed that the final list was prepared at Police Headquarters and the names of successful applicants called to enter the training.
They said they were shocked and embarrassed at the decision of the authorities to remove them from the training.
“We fulfilled all the set criteria put by Police Headquarters for the recruitment before the final list came out. The final list was prepared at Police Headquarters before the successful applicants were called,” some of the affected recruits told a cross section of journalists in tears over the weekend.
The scene at PTS was somber as the affected recruits were crying bitterly and pleading with the Inspector General of Police to reconsider his decision so that they can continue with the training.
