Following Sierra Leone’s 3-1 defeat to Zambia and their a 4-1 loss again to Ivory Coast in the ongoing 2025 AFCON Qualifiers, soccer supporters of Leone Stars have demanded for an experienced foreign coach; they also have voiced their dismay on the decision by the Sierra Leone Football Association to have appointed Coach Amidu Karim and his backroom staff who not been performing throughout this year’s campaign.
In an interview with some key football stakeholders anonymously, they said the appointment of Coach Karim and other backroom staff was woefully done, and many fans are not happy about this.
“We acknowledge the difficulties of playing away and we need a foreign coach this time round.”
The achievement of Leone Stars was particularly seen when Sierra Leone went to the Africa Cup of Nations after a long absence.
The fans have emphasized on the importance of consistency in football games and so have questioned the rationale behind the decision to select Coach Amidu Karim and others in the first place.
“We need qualified, disciplined, and experienced coach in the country.”
Unless SLFA leadership finds someone who is more qualified, disciplined, and experienced than Coach Karim to be able to improve the national team.
The decision-making in the nation’s football management has badly undermined the standard of the team, considering the significant financial investments being made to the domestic soccer sport.
