In the Criminal Session, presiding over Acting Chief Justice Nicholas Colin-Browne Marke, police investigator tenders exhibits of Cannabis Sativa in High Court No1 on Monday, 23rd September, 2024.
State Prosecutor, Christian Solomon Kekurah, led in his witness to navigate about an investigation done to tender three barrels of Cannabis Sativa. Detective Police Constable, 13834 Alusine Kargbo, attached Investigation Department Waterloo Police Station, explained what transpired between 4th to 6thMay 2024.
While he was on duty, the operation team including Dectective Police Inspector Foday Kamara, arrested and brought the accused persons together with three barrels of Cannabis Sativa, and handed over to him for investigation. On May 4th 2024, DPC 13174 Kargbo MM had a contemporaneous inetrview with the accused person.
According to the police, he read the statement of the accused that her consent was seek and the police conduct search warranty, and discovered Canabis Sativa in her premises. He added, many question were asked and the accused was willing to answer.
The accused while she was interviewed, said “Cannabis Sativa is a natural herbs meant for smoking, and I buy it from an unknown person at Mile Ninety One (91) to sell to the public.”
The accused was not given a receipt or any document to indicate possession of tne said drug.
In her statement she was oblivion that should not have it her possession.
6 May 2024, barrels were tendered to exhibit clerk and Dectective Inspector Foday Kamara submitted a Police report of the investigation. Later on 8th May 2024, accused was charged with unlawful possession of drug.
The defence counsel, Daniel Koroma, cross examined the witness. He also made an application for bail to be granted for his client.
Jugde Marke, refused bail application filled, and he adjourned the matter to Wednesday, 25th September, 2024.
