The Sierra Leone Ambassador to Kuwait, HAJA AISHATA THOMAS, made a surprise visit to the Sierra Leone Community Mosque in Brixton, London, marking a special gesture moment for the entire Sierra Leone Muslim Community in London.
During the visit, the ambassador performed the weekly Jummah Salat with the Sierra Leone Muslim Jammat. Her presence at the mosque was announced to the Muslim Jammat after a Friday prayer by one of the clerics of the mosque, Sheikh Musa, during his Friday Bayan Sermon.
Sheikh Musa offered prayers for the ambassador during his Bayan Sermon wishing her Allah’s protection, long life and prosperity and for Allah’s wisdom in her endeavours.
After the Jummah Salat, Ambassador Haja Aishata Thomas was greeted by family members, long-time friends and the public and later escorted into the office of the chief Imam of the Brixton Islamic Cultural Centre Mosque, Dr Sheikh Faisal Boadi, by Sheikh Baimba Ibrahim Conteh and Alhaji Boie Kamara.

During the meeting with the Chief Imam of the mosque, the ambassador expressed her thanks and appreciation to the entire Muslim Jammat and offered a token donation to the mosque which highlighted the ambassador’s connection with the Sierra Leonean Communities in the diaspora and the importance of fostering Unity amongst Sierra Leoneans wherever she goes. On behalf of the entire membership of the Muslim Jammat, Sheikh Baimba Ibrahim Conteh thanked the ambassador for her Surprise visit and highlighted some of the problems the mosque is currently facing
Such as a lack of funds to secure a bigger building as the population is getting higher to accommodate the present building. The entire Muslim Jammat of the mosque asked the ambassador to keep them in mind for any future assistance for their mosque.
This gesture from the ambassador reinforces her Commitment to Community Welfare and Promotes Cultural and religious ties among Sierra Leoneans in the United Kingdom.

The token donation while modest, symbolises a goodwill gesture and encouragement for the Muslim Community’s effort to maintain Unity and a strong Spiritual and Cultural Presence.
The Ambassador’s visit to the mosque also strengthen diplomatic and Community bonds, and shows the ambassador’s active engagement beyond her official duties and reflecting a deep Connection to the well-being of Sierra Leoneans living in the United Kingdom.
