As they set to run for Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) Presidential position come November, 2024 in Makeni city, Northern part of Sierra Leone.
The incumbent President, Sahr Morris Jr. is highly interested to secure a second term in the upcoming polls based on his achievements and successes.
Morris has a huge pedigree of experience over twenty years in the field of journalism both national and international and as Sports administrator and has been Editor in diverse media institutions such as at Star Radio, Concord times Newspaper, and in other platforms.
He holds a BA Honors in Mass Communications from the citadel of higher learning, Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.
He also had served greatly with passion within the ranks and files of the profession, coupled with a title of honorable known for his focus. Now! The young dynamic man is seeking for another term within the sports community.
On the other hand, the numerous Award-Winning Journalist, Ishmail Saidu Kanu with a career standing over 15 years, from his days at Culture Radio, BBN, and Plain Truth Newspaper to his current role as editor of the Tribune Times Newspaper, Ishmail Saidu Kanu as many see him as one of the most skillful sports writers in Sierra Leone.
Pair with a unique blend of expertise in sports reporting and presentation, Ishmail has solidified his knowledge and capacity as a stalwart in not only the field of sports but also in journalism.
He holds the distinction of being the sole sports journalist in Sierra Leone with an LLB degree, laying bare his expertise and dedication to his craft. He holds a BSc and an LLB Honors Degree from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.
His extensive experience and broad network within the sporting family, sports bodies, and associations have established him as one of the greatest among his peers nationwide.
The several award-winning sports journalist has previously served as the Public Relations Officer for the Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone, holding a key position for which he served the institution diligently and efficiently.
As a pathway to give more to the sports association and the country, Kanu is willing to contest for the association’s presidency, aiming to further contribute to the growth and development of sports journalism in the country.
As he steps forward to potentially lead the association, his rich background and firm passion for sports journalism positions him as a promising candidate poised to make a meaningful impact on the profession in the country and is ready to make significant changes in the profession.
And therefore, voters now have choice between the two choices.
